Equipment trials and hire

Before choosing equipment, ask whether you can see it and try it appropriately. A trial or hire arrangement must be confirmed, not assumed.

Decide what you need to try

Start with the activity: moving around the home, communicating or using a computer. Note the setting where the equipment would be used and the user’s own questions. Ask for a demonstration of the actual task, rather than simply switching the device on. For equipment requiring individual fitting, seek the relevant assessment and instruction; a brief trial does not replace that process.

Clarify the arrangement before collection

If a trial or hire is offered, request written terms covering duration, price, deposit, delivery, return and responsibility for damage. Ask about cleaning, maintenance, accessories and help if the equipment stops working. Distinguish a showroom demonstration from use at home. Do not assume that a catalog item is available for hire or that an arrangement applies in every country.

Ask about support for use

Ask who sets up the equipment and whom to contact afterwards. Keep the model details and provider instructions. AssistMove lists mobility, communication and technical-aid categories; the link below is a catalog referral, not confirmation of hire, stock or suitability. If the offer is unclear, request clarification before deciding. AgeCare does not reserve equipment or enter hire agreements for you.
